General instructions for maintenance
EcoFurn® furniture is made from solid wood. All the furniture is unique in tone and pattern, just like the trees naturally are. Individual parts of the furniture can be replaced with new ones if necessary. In order for you to enjoy your environmentally friendly furniture for the maximum time, it is recommended to maintain them regularly.
- Cleaning: Careful cleaning is an important part of maintenance of wooden furniture. This should be done using water and a brush. Clean the furniture when taking it into use, during the period of use and when storing. Wipe pollen and other dirt off your furniture whenever necessary.
- Treatment: Renew the oiling or other surface treatment as needed to keep the furniture beautiful, pleasant to use and extend its service life. It is recommended to re-treat oiled chairs at least once a year with a high-quality clear or tinted wood oil suitable for outdoor use. It is also good to remember that the need for treatment depends on many factors, such as the place of use, weather conditions and, of course, the amount of use.
- Dark products: Furniture with surface treatment, especially dark oil, should be assembled on a protective surface using gloves. Dark-coloured products should also be cleaned of colour dust with a damp cloth before use and dried in an airy environment. To get a strong and lasting colour, EcoFurn uses wood oil with more colour paste than normal to dye dark products. The first few times the product is used, a little colour may come off.
Manufacturing materials, care & methods of use
- Alder – Also suitable for warm conditions. You can use it as a stylish seat in the sauna, for example.
- Ash – Durable and hard wood. Built for heavy use. Great for outdoors around the year. Must be oiled when used outdoors.
- Birch – Goes well both indoors and outdoors when oiled. Harder wood than pine.
- Pine – Weather resistant, but must be oiled. Dark colours warm up in the sun, so it is not advisable to place black on, for example, a glazed balcony. Pine is suitable for year-round outdoor use.
- Oak – Sturdy wood. Suitable for indoor use or covered outdoor spaces. If you use outside, remember to oil. Oak can release tannins as it gets warm or wet.
